Introduction

This chapter starts by throwing you right into the action – both Hikari and a man named Ritsu run straight into a battlefield after a short conversation about their fallen allies who fought for Ku. Your only objective is to defeat the enemy soldiers, so move forward and prepare for a few tutorial fights.

Hikari uses Sword and Polearm attacks for now, spread between his normal moves, Learned Skills, and Warrior Skills. Ritsu only uses swords but he’s still useful here. Use any of their moves to win – the enemies are weak to all of them.

General Mugen and Kazan are watching prince Hikari from above the battle, coming up with a way to win the fight for the nation of Ku.

As the perspective shifts back to Hikari, more battles will begin. This time, you’re also joined by a woman named Rai Mei. The second fight will be a sort of introductory-level boss encounter.

Southern General

The general of the southern army is waiting at the end of the battlefield, and it’s a three-on-three fight. All of the enemies are weak to a mix of swords, polearms, or Lightning – the general is only weak to swords and Lightning, but the soldiers are weak to all three.

Ritsu can use Heave Sand to blind the general to avoid big damage, and Rai Mei can use Thunderous Stab on enemies to attack the Lightning weakness. Meanwhile, Hikari covers both weapon weaknesses with multiple ways to take advantage of each one. You should be able to break each enemy’s shield often.

Once the fight is over, we learn that General Mugen is actually Hikari’s brother, after he arrives and kills the Southern General. Their father, King Jigo, also arrives on the scene to acknowledge the victory.

We then learn that the nation of Ku ceased all battles after this victory, causing Kazan and Rai Mei to leave the deserts they used to fight for.

Ku: Castle Town

The game jumps ahead three years, to Ku in a newfound time of peace. A woman named Tsuki tells Hikari that one of his brother’s soldiers is causing trouble at the tavern, so you need to put a stop to it. Once inside, use Hikari’s daytime Path Action, Challenge, to duel the rowdy soldier.

Hikari has the ability to learn new skills by winning these challenges, so don’t be afraid to duel many other people if you’re strong enough.

A man named Benkei will then ask Hikari to visit him at the western keep. Before you progress the story, you may want to challenge a few townspeople to earn more skills.

You’ll want to gain challenge skills for as many weapons and elements as you can, to exploit as many enemy weaknesses as possible in the future.

In the Ku: Castle Town area alone, you can earn Axe, Staff, Bow, and Fire moves through Challenge duels.

The toughest skill to get here is Arrow Volley, but as an AoE Arrow attack, it’s incredibly useful for breaking shields during the upcoming boss fight. You can get it from a soldier in a tough fight above the northern gate.

You can also earn First Aid, a healing move, from a man near the center of town – this will help you save healing items in a pinch.

After you’re done with the challenges, go to the quest marker to find Benkei and King Jigo waiting for you. Jigo reveals that he wants Hikari as the next king of Ku, to avoid the bloodshed that Mugen would bring.

Castle Ku: Entrance

The king warned Hikari of a plot stirring among Mugen’s troops, so you’ll need to find out what’s going on. Go through the northern gate to reach the castle entrance. Use Hikari’s nighttime Path Action, Bribe, to get information out from the nearby merchant – it’ll cost you 300 leaves.

If you don’t have enough money, simply open the chest next to the merchant to instantly gain another 1,600 leaves.

It seems that Mugen may be planning to start another war. Leave the area through the southern exit of Ku: Castle Town, then head southeast.

Southern Ku Sands

This area is Danger Level 4, which shouldn’t be a problem if you challenged the citizens of Ku to duels. Hikari should be around level six by now, but if he isn’t, use this area to gain at least 30JP (Job Points) and unlock a third Warrior Skill.

Vengeful Blade and Enervating Slash are two of Hikari’s best options for now. The former lets him counter any physical damage with a Sword attack that always lowers enemy shields, and the latter removes all buffs from an enemy, dealing damage that scales with the number of buffs removed.

Boss Battle: Ritsu Mishuyo

Hikari won’t find Mugen at this location – he was lured here with false information while Mugen took the opportunity to Tap to Reveal. Instead of Mugen, Ritsu shows up.

Ritsu is joined by two footmen, much like the fight with the Southern General at the start of the chapter. This is where Arrow Volley comes in handy – all three enemies here are weak to Bow damage, and the footmen only have one shield point each.

Vengeful Blade is also great here because all enemy attacks are physical, allowing Hikari to counter them for guaranteed shield damage.

Additionally, you’ll unlock Hikari’s Latent Power: Shadow’s Hold. It allows him to use special skills without consuming any SP.

Castle Ku

After Ritsu is defeated, Hikari will spare his life, as expected. However, he’ll then hear a mysterious voice coming from inside himself – it’s telling him to kill Ritsu.

Upon returning to the castle town, Hikari arrives just in time to Tap to Reveal. Make your way to the castle to get revenge for the townspeople. But before entering the northern gate, speak to the soldier on the ground to receive an Empowering Lychee.

There’s a special item called Oboro’s Journal on the desk next to the C2 chest in the map below, so pick it up now to avoid having to come back for it.

Hikari shows up in the throne room moments too late, as Tap to Reveal. Hikari does, however, swear to become king one day, but you’re no match for Mugen at this point. It’s time to join up with a few former residents of Ku.

Benkei helps Hikari escape and start his journey through Solistia. The first stop is the city of scholars to the east to find Kazan. The recommended level for Hikari’s Chapter 2 story is 15, so be sure to meet the rest of the travelers before making your way to the other side of the map.
