8-Bit Theater (also spelled 8-Bit Theatre) is a popular sprite comic created and launched by Brian Clevinger in March 2001 that won the Web Cartoonist's Choice Awards for best fantasy comic in 2002. The plot of the comic is based on that of the video game Final Fantasy I, following the four Light Warriors in their quest to vanquish the King of Demons, Chaos. The comic is not, however, a serious epic; much of the humor displayed in 8-Bit Theater is derived from the blunderings and misadventures of the protagonists and their foes.
8-Bit Theater's humor is based on exaggerated RPG stereotypes and includes a range of comedic devices, such as droll humor, running gags, wordplay, and slapstick. A significant portion of the humor is character driven often the comic creates reader anticipation for dramatic moments which fail to come. (Example) Clevinger has stated that "[his] favorite comics are the ones where the joke is on the reader."
8-Bit Theater was originally intended to parody a variety of classic 8-bit video games. The popularity of the Final Fantasy comic convinced Clevinger to abandon this idea, although 8-Bit Theater does make occasional references to other video games as well as pop culture phenomena such as comic book superheroes, TV shows and movies. For example, there are parodies of superheroes, such as Arachna-Dude or The Sulk.
8-Bit Theater is hosted by ZeStuff.
This is an update to my previous torrent. It contains the "complete" comic now because the series has finally concluded as of June 1st, 2010.
Although I have seen this pop up time and time again on undergound-gamer and even other torrent sites, something always bothered me about the previous packs. There was really no way to tell each comic apart since nobody spent the time renaming all the images accordingly (as that would have taken way too much of their time). I have attempted to do this at least three or so times in the past and always ended up either losing interest or my files erased during the next re-format before I could finish. Only recently did I get a smart idea. Unlike before, I now know PHP so I decided to write a screen scraper (or more specifically an HTML parser) script that literally traversed through each and every comic strip page on NuklearPower.org and not only grabbed all the images, but parsed the title of the comic, removed/replaced illegal filename characters and generated the file (fully titled) accordingly.
What I present to you is the results of my neat little idea. I did have to make some tweaques on some filenames mind you (due to some typos on 8-bit theatre included misspelling "episode" in one case and certain titles also had extra spaces for no apparent reason. I also had to add an extra zero to episodes 0000 to 0999 in order for the images to sort properly). This probably took me at least 1/20th of the time it would have had I gone to rip each image manually and name it (and yes, the comics that were split into two images were successfully dumped as well and the new years day flash file is included too).

Subject: Utterly Amazing!

Feel like I have searched for so long, had all but given up hope of finding something like this and started to manually save and archive each page (no small task). Found this page just by chance... couldn't be happier.

Everything it claims to be. Can only hope that other fans one day find their way here and get the chance to relive the magic of this comic stip.

Words cannot thank you enough for your help. Gods speed good fellow!
